R. Webb Moore is a shareholder with Hirschler
Fleischer and began practicing law with the Firm
following four years of work as a consulting
engineer.
The focus of his practice includes (i) real estate
development and construction law, representing
developers, contractors, subcontractors, architects,
engineers and construction project owners in
a variety of construction-related concerns;
(ii) general corporate law representing business
owners and individual entrepreneurs in a variety
of business concerns; and (iii) intellectual property
law, representing clients in patent, trademark and
copyright matters including IP litigation.
Mr. Moore received his B.S. degree in mechanical
engineering from the University of Virginia in 1980
and worked as a consulting engineer in private
practice from 1980 to 1984. He received his law
degree in 1987 from the University of Richmond’s
T.C. Williams School of Law, where he was a
member of the Richmond Law Review and The
McNeill Law Society, reserved for students at
the top of their law school class. He is admitted
to practice before the United States Patent and
Trademark Office and is a Licensed Professional
Engineer (P.E.). The following is representative of
his practice:
- Representation of owners and developers,
contractors, design of professionals and sureties
in commercial, retail, mixed-use and institutional
projects;
- Representation of business clients in corporate
and partnership transactions and disputes;
- Representation of design professionals (architects
and engineers) before the Virginia State Board
of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land
Surveyors and Certified Landscape Architects;
- Appeals of public construction contract cases
before the Armed Services Board of Contract
Appeals;
- Prosecution as well as defense of numerous
mechanic’s lien cases relating to a variety of major
construction projects;
- Consultation with clients regarding protection
of all forms of intellectual property, including
copyright protection of computer software,
software licensing, trademark and service mark
protection and patent protection;
- Representation of clients before the United States
Patent & Trademark Office; and
- Representation of clients in intellectual property
litigation; including patent, trademark and
copyright infringement litigation.
Mr. Moore is a member of the American Bar
Association’s Forum Committee on the Construction
Industry and Section of Intellectual Property Law
as well as the Virginia State Bar’s Construction
Law Section and Intellectual Property Law Section.
He is a past director of the Richmond Chapter of
the Construction Specifications Institute and is a
member of the Associated General Contractors and
Associated Builders and Contractors.
Mr. Moore has been recognized as one of Virginia’s
“Legal Elite Attorneys” by Virginia Business
magazine every year since this feature was started
in 2001. He has also been recognized as a Virginia
“Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics magazine and
holds his “AV” rating from the Martindale-Hubbell
legal directory.
Webb is a frequent lecturer and author on all
aspects of intellectual property, technology and
construction law.
