Thomas J. Dillon, III is a problem solver. As a commercial litigation attorney, Thom assists clients with all forms of dispute resolution and counsels clients on dispute avoidance. Whether through traditional litigation, alternative dispute resolution or negotiations, Thom utilizes creative, practical and aggressive approaches when advocating for his clients. Thom regularly appears before private mediators, arbitrators, administrative agencies, state and federal trial courts, and appeal tribunals. As a direct result of Thom's strong entrepreneurial spirit, sound judgment, and practical approach to handling and resolving legal issues, he is regularly called upon by business clients for counseling on a wide variety of commercial business issues from business formation through dissolution. From preparing contracts to enforcing contracts in court, he provides clients with a unique, cost-effective approach to legal matters.
Relevant Experience:
- Obtained preliminary injunctive relief in a highly contested trade secret case on behalf of an international computer software company against a former computer programmer to protect the confidentiality of trade secrets valued at $10 million.
- Served as the principal legal counselor in the creation, development, and explosive expansion of a nationally recognized restaurant chain and franchiser. Thom was and continues to be actively involved with the client's expansion of 40+ restaurants in over six states in less than 3 years.
- Successfully defended an international toy manufacturer against claims of employment discrimination and wrongful retaliation in federal court.
- Developed and implemented comprehensive landlord-tenant policies and procedures management of a large local multi-family housing complex managed by a national management company.
- Developed and registered numerous trademarks for a national company and defended a contested mark before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
- Successfully enforced a non-competition agreement on behalf of an employer against a former sales employee.
- Successfully mediated a litigation dispute securing 80% of the disputed amount for the client.
