W. Brian McCann - Attorney

 

W. Brian McCann is a trial attorney who devotes his practice to civil litigation. As a member of the firm's specialized Catastrophic Injury Practice Group, Brian represents plaintiffs in serious personal injury (including automobile and product cases) and medical malpractice matters, and executors/administrators of estates in wrongful death cases. Additionally, Brian litigates a broad range of general business and corporate matters.

Relevant Experience:

Prior to attending law school, Brian worked as a litigation consultant for Arthur Andersen, LLP in Washington, D.C., where he used his background in Economics to analyze various economic data to determine resultant damages in large commercial and environmental litigation disputes.

After law school, Brian returned home to Richmond to practice law. At his prior firm in downtown Richmond, Brian concentrated his practice on commercial litigation and insurance defense. Now, Brian uses his knowledge and background in defending personal injury actions and wrongful death cases to represent victims suffering from catastrophic injuries. Additionally, Brian continues to advise clients on and litigate complex commercial matters.

  • Representation of plaintiffs who suffer from traumatic brain injuries resulting from vehicle collisions.
  • Representation of executors/administrators of estates in wrongful death and survival actions involving medical malpractice.
  • Representation of clients in matters involving damage to person and property as a result of defective products.
  • Multiple favorable jury verdicts in trials of personal injury matters involving traumatic brain injuries.
  • Favorable verdicts in several complex litigation matters involving issues of breach of warranty, breach of contract and construction disputes.
  • Favorable rulings for corporate clients in employment matters tried before arbitration panels.
  • Representation of securities dealers and brokers in employment disputes pending in arbitration before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority ("FINRA").
  • Representation of corporate clients in matters involving conspiracy, fraud, tortuous interference of business and contractual relationship, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation.
  • Representation of employers and employees involving non-compete contractual provisions.
  • Representation of clients in tax cases involving the Virginia Department of Taxation.
  • Representation of corporate clients in corporate, partnership, and limited liability company judicial dissolution cases.
  • Representation of client securing Guardianships for over 15 mentally disabled individuals.
