Hirschler Fleischer Partner Courtney Paulk Completes Record-Breaking Swim Across Cape Cod Bay

Hirschler Fleischer is pleased to announce that its partner, Courtney Moates Paulk, is the seventh person in history to complete the 20-mile swim across Cape Cod Bay. Surpassing her personal goal and breaking the course record, Paulk competed the journey in 9 hours and 43 minutes. She took on the endeavor to swim from Plymouth, Mass. to Provincetown as part of a fundraising campaign for Active RVA, an organization that promotes active living and healthy lifestyles.

“It’s no surprise that Courtney met her own ambitious goal for crossing Cape Cod Bay. That kind of commitment is very much a part of her character,” said James L. Weinberg, president of Hirschler Fleischer. “Courtney’s determination is a source of inspiration and encouragement to us at the firm.”

Last year, Paulk became the 79th person in the world to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, which included a 20.2-mile swim across the Catalina Channel, 21 miles across the English Channel between England and France, and 28.5 miles around Manhattan.

Paulk, whose journeys are documented on her personal blog (http://swimandtonic.wordpress.com/), has also raised money through her endurance swims for the American Heart Association, the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, the Society for Melanoma Research and Swim Free.

Paulk, who serves as shareholder-in-charge of hiring and a member of Hirschler Fleischer's board of directors, represents some of Virginia’s largest public and private owners, contractors, subcontractors and design professionals in construction and real estate transactions, contracts, claims and disputes.
